Carbon fiber meets metal with innovation, style, and advanced technology to create a new aircraft line by Tecnam. The latest addition to the Tecnam line is the P2008.

The Tecnam lineage is apparent the P2008 which includes several exciting additions.

The P2008 has metal wings and a metal stabilator. Tecnam chose to keep the metal wing and stabilator structures for strength, reliability, and ability to flex in flight providing a more comfortable ride. To produce the desired increase in cabin width and greater aerodynamic efficiency, Tecnam chose carbon fiber.

The decision to utilize both materials was for the optimization of aerodynamic qualities, flight characteristics, and reliability. The powerplant and associated cowlings are similar to all of the existing Tecnam line with few modifications. The P2008 has higher capacity than the existing line (55x2 lt - 14,5x2 GAL) and fuel tanks are installed in the wing box, behind the main spar. This is to preserve their integrity in case of a crash landing and to minimize fire potential. The instrument panel size is increased from other Tecnam models due to the increase in cabin width. It is modular in design and can accommodate the most complete instrumentation, analogical or digital type.

• Floats – produced from carbon fiber with reinforcements for wheels up safe landings on paved and grass runways. Reinforcements also provided on the float sides for bener handling protection. Each float is equipped with 6 access doors to enable ease of safety inspections. A small baggage compartment is provided in order to store components inside. The floats are equipped with two high quality anodized aluminium bollards on each float and one telescopic paddle with hook to make it easy to handle the aeroplane when close to quay.

• Marine Rudder Kit - all components are made of anodized aluminium. The Marine Rudder Kit content includes rudders (on both floats), a support plate on each float, retraction jack with down spring in case of air pressure loss and a bowden control line to the pedals and retraction control knob. TECNAM decided to eliminate all marine rudder control and lift cables by the use of a marine push pull bowden running inside the float and by the use of a pneumatic jack for rudder lift as illustrated, using the same retraction system of landing gear but with a separate control knob.

• Fitting structure - includes: nose fitting machined components with engine mount upper spacers, MLG fitting plate (inox steel) with new fitting clamp, streamlined struts made in aluminium extruded with inox steel ends, LH to RH floats connection rods with trailing edge, tension rods for front and rear side. All struts are drained. All bolts are made in inox steel.
